The Brief

For the past 14 years, a global industrial supply company has partnered with us to design a new and unforgettable experience for their annual incentive trip that immersed attendees in destination culture and history.

The Solution

Creative communications • Purchasing, supplier management and budgeting services • Creative design • On-site execution • Cultural venue selection: 17th century Opera House & 16th century building with historic significance • Local village visit • Local boat transfer.

The Results

The post-program survey reflected the attendees’ appreciation of their experiences—not only for the unique gala evening, but also for the chance to immerse themselves in the local culture.

The Story

We designed a program that took the client’s attendees to Panama, a critical link in their distribution chain. Starting with the launch of this incentive program, we distributed information focused on educating the group about the country, its people and the culture. We used interactive maps on the promotional website and additional pre-program communications to help familiarize attendees with the location and generate excitement.

During the stay, attendees lodged at the luxurious InterContinental Playa Bonita Resort & Spa. Tours were designed to maximize exposure to the culture including visits to the Emberra Indian villages with transfers on local boats. For the awards ceremony on the final night of the program, Panama’s National Theater was secured—a beautiful and newly restored Opera House dating back to the 17th century.

BCD M&E is the only U.S. company ever to be granted access to this theater. The awards banquet was held in the rotunda of the oceanfront Ministry of the Exterior headquarters—a 16th century building which housed the first United Nations Charter signed by the countries who built the Panama Canal. Both venues provided unique backdrops for the gala evening with minimal décor needed to enhance their natural beauty.

For 14 years , we have developed philanthropic activities for each of the client’s incentive programs and their size has grown from 250 to 450 attendees. Those who participated have become loyal employees, inspiring others to recognize the value that their company brings to its communities and the personal rewarding experience this action generates.
