BCD M&E Experts Highlight Emerging Destinations Across APAC

As organizations across Asia Pacific seek new ways to elevate attendee engagement, maximize value, and create more meaningful event experiences, destination selection is becoming increasingly strategic. Traditional gateway cities continue to play an important role, but a growing number of planners are expanding their horizons to include emerging and secondary destinations that offer distinctive experiences, stronger local connections, and new opportunities for business events.

This shift is the focus of the latest TTGmice cover story, which features insights from BCD Meetings & Events (M&E) experts Amit Mandpe, Eunice Lee, Greer Cash, Minte Wei, and Xinling Yap. Spanning two pages of the publication’s four-page cover feature, the article explores how destinations such as Phuket, Bali, Da Nang, Perth, Penang, Hyderabad, Busan, Jeju, and Phu Quoc are increasingly being considered for meetings, incentives, conferences, and corporate events.

The feature examines a range of factors shaping destination decisions today, from experience-led program design and destination readiness to cost optimization, business objectives, attendee expectations, and sustainability considerations. With organizations taking a more deliberate approach to event planning, destinations are being evaluated not only for their appeal but also for the strength of their infrastructure, supplier ecosystems, accessibility, and long-term value.

Contributors from BCD M&E also share perspectives on the evolution of program formats, including the rise of content-focused events alongside high-impact incentive experiences, as well as how sustainability is being integrated through local sourcing, community engagement, and more intentional event design.

The story reflects a growing industry trend: destination selection is no longer simply about where an event takes place, but about how a destination contributes to business outcomes, attendee experiences, and lasting impact.
