Inside National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show with our Production & Creative Team

From AI-powered editing to smarter storage and workflow solutions, National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas provided David Shin and Louis Wong, from our Production & Creative Team, a valuable insight into the tools and trends shaping the future of production.

During their visit to the show in April, Directors of Photography, David Shin and Louis Wong explored the latest innovations in broadcast, cinema and production technology. The event featured more than 1,100 exhibitors, 500+ sessions, 750+ speakers, and 11 stages, making it one of the industry’s largest opportunities to discover new tools, learn from experts, and connect with technology partners.

Louis said: “The biggest value of attending NAB Show was not just seeing new technology, but understanding which solutions could be practical, scalable and relevant for BCD M&E.”

With exhibitors representing every stage of the production process, the show offered valuable insight into where the industry is headed and how emerging technologies could support the work we do at BCD M&E.

Walking the show floor, David and Louis enjoyed interactions with Blackmagic Design, Sony and Adobe amongst others.

David said: “One of the clearest themes across the event was the growing role of artificial intelligence and workflow innovation. From production to post-production, many of the tools on display were designed to help teams work faster, collaborate more effectively and reduce friction in day-to-day processes.”

Several of the technologies they explored stood out as especially relevant for BCD M&E. These included remote storage and file access solutions, AI-powered editing tools that can help speed up repetitive post-production tasks, improved on-site communication systems, autofocus solutions for manual lenses and more efficient network-attached storage. Together, these innovations pointed to practical ways production teams can save time, improve flexibility, and work more efficiently.

Beyond the technology itself, one of the most valuable parts of the experience was the opportunity to speak directly with exhibitors.

Louis said: “Seeing products in action and having real conversations with the people behind the tools gave us a clearer understanding of which solutions could be realistic and useful for our teams. That hands-on learning helped move the experience beyond simply seeing what is new and into understanding what could make an impact for BCD M&E.”

As members of the content division within Production & Creative, David and Louis naturally focused on tools connected to camera work, editing and production workflows. At the same time, one of their key takeaways was that NAB Show offers value beyond content production alone. Other teams across BCD M&E, particularly in live events, could likely discover technologies and partners that support their own priorities and ways of working.

David said: “Attending industry events like NAB Show gives teams the chance to stay current on new developments, evaluate ideas that could improve efficiency, and think more strategically about how technology can support both creativity and operations. For BCD M&E, that kind of exposure helps us remain competitive in a fast-changing meetings and events landscape.”

David and Louis were grateful for the opportunity to attend and came away with insights that can help inform future conversations around innovation, efficiency and cross-team collaboration at BCD M&E.
